Microvolunteering Day 2018

On April 15th, we will be uniting our international community to celebrate Mircovolunteering Day. Join us to make a real impact on a whole host of causes, meet like-minded people, and even learn a new skill or two along the way.

In as little as twenty minutes, you can experience how Cause Corps is making doing good a daily habit across the globe. The following cities are hosting events this weekend:

After a study conducted in the UK, “Help from Home” began Microvolunteering Day in 2014. The aim of Microvolunteering Day is to engage volunteers, inspire non-profits to embrace the concept, and to stimulate discussion.

Unfortunately, since 2016, Help from Home no longer operate; but in the spirit of the day, we make a special effort every April to organise events and celebrate the occasion. With only a handful of microvolunteering organisations around the world, we’re doing our part to support volunteers of all experience levels to do good, and bring microvolunteering into the public eye.

While there are multiple definitions out there, Cause Corps defines a microvolunteering event as:

  • short in time (20 minutes to 2 days)
  • free to volunteers (or very low cost)
  • direct impact

We host our events in cafes and public places around the world, with our community of passionate volunteers to write, knit, plant, learn, and teach together – to make doing good a daily habit.

This year, we will also be releasing our first Annual Report, for calendar year 2017. It’s our way of making transparent our accomplishments from last year. For volunteers and organisations alike, our Annual Report will also provide an in-depth look into the unique organisational model we’ve developed, and answer questions about how our events and partnerships work, as well as what our plans are into the future.

Our global Cause Corps teams love welcoming new volunteers; if you’d like to get involved in the Microvolunteering Day festivities - and hopefully events after that – the following cities are hosting events this weekend. Find a chapter near you and start the habit of #dogooddaily!
